CONGRATULATIONS BARB!
Barb Tremlett wins 2006 Chamber of Commerce Emminence Award for Most Outstanding Chamber Volunteer of the Year!

eminence
The year 2006 was probably the hardest year that Barb has had to face in her entire life.  Her brother passed away in July, and her father-in-law in December, both being extremely dear to her.  Through it all she ran a brand new company like it's been around for 10 years, and spent countless hours volunteering for many of the jobs that others in the Chamber passed up.  She was constantly making herself known in the community and energizing everyone she spoke with, letting them know that they themselves held the key to happiness and success.  This award is yet another chapter in the book of Barb's life.  We hope you continue to watch as each new chapter unfolds, with the next being March 14 at 7:30pm on WMUR Channel 9 when NH Chronicle will be showing just a glimpse at what goes on at The Holistic Self Care Center.

A NOTE FROM BARBbarb best

I spend my days trying to make a difference. I spend my nights dreaming of how I can make a difference. Whether it is an organization I am a member of, the company that I run, or society in general I am always asking the question, "How can we improve that?"

Is it entrepreneurial spirit? Perfectionism? Or is it just a pure gesture of love? I believe it is probably a combination of all three, but the reason doesn't really matter. What matters is what I do with the information I gather. How do we as a community make a difference? How do we lower crime rates? How do we make sure every person has a healthy body? How do we support women in business? How do we make sure every child goes to bed with a full belly and warm clothes? I am one person. I can make an impact. But, it is not the same impact that can be made when 20, 30, 40 people, or a whole community makes a decision together to make a change. We are all members of a great awakening. We are living proof that when great people and great minds combine we can do, be or have anything!

Life is phenomenal. I wake up every day grateful for what I have and I say thank you hundreds of times every day, even for the little things. Please join us in making a difference. Join our Positive Thinkers League, Bruno Groening Circle of Friends, Ladies Night Out, Brown Bag Lunch, or many of the other fun, educational, and inspirational things we do here at the center. WE are making a difference. If you haven't already, please make a difference with us.

the secretPOSITIVE THINKERS LEAGUE ADDS TWO NEW NIGHTS

The Positive Thinkers League gathering on February 27 was such a success with over 60 people in attendance that we have added two additional dates in March--Friday, March 9, and Wednesday, March 21.  These dates are in additional to the original last Tuesday of the month meeting on March 27.  The times for all three meetings are from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. As seen on Oprah,  Larry King Live, and the Ellen Degeneres show, this group is all about manifesting your thoughts into reality.  By watching the movie "The Secret" and discussing what you will do with this empowering information, you will design your own personal road map to your dreams.  Join us and find out what all the buzz is about.  Your life will be changed forever!
Acupuncture and Expecting Mothers: Safe and Effective Obstetrical Care

Acupuncture has been used for everything from treating arthritis to providing cold and flu relief.  It is also a widely used and safe method of treatment for expecting mothers, addressing the conditions commonly associated with pregnancy such as nausea, vomiting and back pain. Studies are now showing that acupuncture can also be a beneficial and safe alternative to inducing labor in expectant mothers. Using acupuncture to induce labor in overdue mothers is a valid alternative to taking Pitocin, a drug typically used in hospitals. When the drug Pitocin is used, it creates a strong reaction and induces labor almost immediately. While the effects this drug may have on the unborn child have not yet been determined, the side effects for the mother can range from nausea and vomiting, to experiencing more serious conditions such as postpartum hemorrhaging and cardiac arrhythmias. Using acupuncture is much safer for mother and child, gently inducing labor through the stimulation of qi, or the body's own bio-energy. If you are interested in learning more about acupuncture for pregnancy related conditions, or would like to make an appointment with Acupuncturist Lucinda M. Fecteau, MAOM, L.Ac., OT/L, call 603-883-1490 or visit the Center.
