Have you ever loved someone or something so much it hurts?

I have worked for two and half years to bring to the community a place of healing and education. This facility is more dynamic than any place I have ever been. The art work is phenomenal, the sounds are gentle and peaceful, we use aromatherapy to touch your senses and the many plants and ambient lighting relaxes the body. I am amazed every time I walk through this wonderful space as the emotions begin to stir in me. It is amazing. It is time for me to step back and let the community support this dynamic company. The philosophy of self care and healing is not new but it is still slow moving. I knew when I opened 16 months ago there would be difficult times. It has been a journey of excitement and learning.

I am personally asking you as a believer and supporter of the Center to help expand what has been created. Talk about The Center to your friends, your neighbors, coworkers and relatives. Tell them about what we do, forward this email, show them our website, invite them to visit us for a tour and use our services. We work with businesses on wellness plans, employee appreciation and give educational talks to employees about ergonomics, how to lower stress and eating healthy at the office. We work with people wanting to take the 1st step in health by doing a general intake. We set them on their individualized path to wellness. If you have companies or organizations that need our services please advocate for us to make the contact.

This community has a wellness center. It is The Holistic Self Care Center. We have over 30 professionals waiting to work with businesses and customers wanting and needing the natural approach to long healthy life. There is a saying “Build it and they will come”. It is ready. It is waiting. Please share the excitement of what we do. Nutritional Guidance, Acupuncture, Massage, Reiki, Hypnotherapy, Ionic Foot Bath, Light Therapy for SAD, Self Defense, tai chi, belly dancing, capiero, networking luncheons, positive awareness training, many, many educational trainings and workshops

Please support this dream and way of the future. This is no longer just a dream of one it is the dream of many. We have already changed many lives and see nothing but great things for the future.

We thank you for your time, your prayers, your love and your donations of time, talent and treasure.

    Sincerely,
    Barb

    THE GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE OUT
    smokeout

The Great American Smokeout is Thursday, November 16, 2006. It is the event's 30th anniversary. We know so much more now about the health hazards of smoking than we did thirty years ago.We are offering three different options to help you "kick the habit".

The first program will be a Smoking Cessation through Hypnotherapy that will be held on November 8 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. A group hypnotherapy session to stop smoking will take place for all who attend. As an added benefit, Scott Powers, a financial planner, will be here to give you ideas on what to do with all the money you will be saving by not buying cigarettes. This workshop is $45.00 if you preregister and $50.00 at the door.

We will also be holding a free Acupuncture Clinic for Smoking Cessation on November 16, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Learn how acupuncture can support you in the detox process. This will be a group acupuncture clinic which is limited to the first 10 participants.

Finally on the evening of the smokeout, come learn how to free your mind of the stress and cravings associated with quitting smoking through Meditation. Our meditation class which begins at 7:30 pm will teach you how you can relax and let go of recurrent thoughts.

SMOKING: A FORMIDABLE ADDICTION--CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP YOU QUIT?

Nicotine is a powerful addiction. It is estimated that most smokers will attempt to quit two or three times, and sometimes more before finally kicking the habit. The reasons to quit smoking are endless. Cigarettes have 4000 known poisons, any of which can kill in high enough doses. One drop of pure nicotinic acid can kill a man. According to the CDC, tobacco kills more than 440,000 people each year, in the US alone. Not to mention the chronic illnesses and diseases which are associated with smoking. Emphysema, lung cancer, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, chronic cough, an increased frequency of colds and flu--these are just a few of the widely known risks associated with smoking. If you are highly motivated and ready to quit, acupuncture treatment can reduce the withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting such as cravings, irritability, restlessness and insomnia. Acupuncture is not a panacea or a magic cure in the treatment of any addiction, but it can be of great assistance when used as part of a comprehensive program to quit smoking. You will have the highest probability of success if you can commit to other healthy lifestyle, dietary and behavioral changes, including:
    • Exercise to rid the body of toxins and improve physical and mental well being
    • A healthy, well balanced diet which includes fresh fruits and vegetables
    • Plenty of water. Research shows that dryness causes cravings.
    • Deep breathing exercises, relaxation and stress management strategies
    • A support person--someone who can act as a sounding board and provide encouragement when needed
    • Setting boundaries--set up contracts with other smokers to refrain from smoking in your presence
    • A plan to manage your cravings. For example, deep breathing, exercising or calling your support person.
Take control and begin a healthy and smoke free-life! If you are interested in learning more or would like to schedule an appointment with Acupuncturist Lucinda M. Fecteau, MAOM, L.Ac., OT/L, call 603-231-2478 or visit the Center.
