Holiday Headaches?

Approximately 4% of adults expierience headaches nearly everyday. In a recent study, acupuncture was found to be an effective treatment for daily headache.(Headache 2005;45:1113-1123). The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of acupuncture as an adjunct to medical management of chronic daily headache. The study showed that medical management alone was not associated with improved clinical outcomes; however, combining acupuncture with medical management was associated with clinical improvement. Patients reported suffering less from headaches, an overall decrease in pain severity and improvement in quality of life. nonpharmacologic interventions for frequent headaches are a safe and effective option, as medical management alone is often inneffective. Giving Thanks

Gratitude. Gratitude involves our appreciation for kindness and a desire to do something in return. In a year where we have had friends, family, fellow Americans and fellow human beings in harms way because of war, natural disasters, or other more personal expieriences we can lose touch with our ability to express gratitude. We see all of this suffering around us and we are drawn to it, partly because it makes us feel lucky to be alive and well. But mostly because the pain of othersdraws draws out our compassion, our sense of caring and simple gratitude for each moment. Most of us are out of touch with this feeling because of our hectic lifestyles and because of the constant suffering we see around us. However if we just pause and pay attention we can connect with our ability to feel compassion and gratitude. During the upcoming holiday season paying attention, offering thanks, being grateful and compassionate can be our way of giving something in return to everyone and everything that surrounds us. By bringing out the best in ourselves we can bring out the best in others.

Got water?
water

Here are some fun facts about water you might not know. Water is recycled throughout time. So it is possible that the water you drink today was also around in the dinosaur age! Human blood is 83% water, our bones are 25% water and our brains are almost 70% water Our bodies recycle 400 gallons of water through our kidneys every day. There is exactly the same amount of water on earth today as there was when the planet was formed 3 billion years ago.
