Originally from St. Louis Missouri,Barb has lived in Nashua for over 25 years.She has a diverse work background, including working as a meat cutter for the Civil Service, owning a daycare center, working in healthcare and as a facility manager for a large software corporation. Barb completed her undergraduate studies in Business Studies at Southern New Hampshire University in 1998 and then went on to receive her MBA at Rivier University in 2001. Barb is trained as an Usui Reiki Master Teacher and is actively practicing and teaching.
Barb has been active in supporting many non-profit organizations including Nashua’s Great American Downtown, worked as a Volunteer Coordinator 8 years for the Nashua Downtown Stroll, served as a 4-year board member for the GAD and is currently serving her 5th year as President of the Business and Professional Women of Nashua. Barb also graduated from the Leadership Greater Nashua Program in 2004 and was then on the LGN Development Board. Barb has also served as an 8-year veteran Ambassador for the Nashua Chamber of Commerce. She has served on many boards and non-profits, and most recently, joined the Rivier University Business School Advisory Board. In2005 she completed her third level of Leadership Training with Klemmer and Associates and is currently attending an advanced program on spiritual awakening and teaches thousands of students each year about mental, physical and spiritual enlightenment.
Barb received her Holistic Life Coaching Certificate in 2010and specializes in Self Confidence, Wellness Overview Consultations, and Spirituality. This certification rounds out her education and her ability to work directly with clients on health programs. She began a private life coaching practice in 2012 called, The Beginner’s Expert, specializing in teaching tools for self care and life long health, confidence and happiness.She was requested as a speaker for the Rivier University’s Fifth Annual Conference on Building a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence and was honored to speak on“Understand Peace Through Self Love.”
Barb runs a small business incubator out of her facility,The Holistic Self Care Center. The Southern New Hampshire Consortium of Holistic Practitioners and Wellness Providers was created in 2010 for individual business owners that want to work in a synergistic work environment to increase their business through infra-referrals, team approaches, cross programming and group marketing plans. This group also has access to one-on-one coaching with Barb to insure that they start their business with and understanding of the importance of business plans, marketing, liability,certifications, licensures, and following state and federal guidelines where applicable. Barb has worked successfully with over 50 business owners over the last 7 years.
Barb has received many awards including the Nashua Chamber Outstanding Volunteer in 2006, the SBA NH Women in Business Champion of the Year 2012, The Mary M. Dumas Memorial Fund, Women’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in 2012 and most recently selected as one of Greater Nashua’s 25 Extraordinary Women 2013.
Barb has worked toward a vision of building a business that educates individuals to take an active role in their personal health care,become in tune with their bodies, and learn to trust their own intuition on the direction their lives should take. She believes when we are strong mentally,physically, and spiritually “We can do, be, or have anything we desire”. She teaches hundreds of local nursing students each year on energy work, stress management, natural body healing and personal empowerment.
Barb loves golf, traveling, spiritual education, teaching and living her passion through her company, The Holistic Self Care Center. One of her favorite sayings is “Too much of a good thing can be wonderful.” In Barb’s words “When I find myself saying,‘I don’t know how,’ I change it to ‘How do I?,’ that is a true Entrepreneur.
