A Personal Note From our CEO, Barb Tremlett
Yes, you would think front page press would be a good thing but… somehow the statements I have made have been blessed with a different angle (this in reference to the front page article of the Nashua Telegraph, Monday, January 9th entitled “Beginning of the end? Some say yes"). To clarify, my thoughts on the subject of 2012 and disaster preparedness are, Yes, life is going to be different as the natural disasters increase. They are natural disasters and they are increasing due to changes in the earth. This is science and it is researchable. As far as the end of the earth ~ I do not believe that was the message of this program. The earth will go on, but it will just be different. We will be forced to use our resources differently and more wisely. We will make our trips from our homes with more thought using less fuel and doubling up on tasks in order to conserve.
Everyone should have a food storage, that is just common sense. If you become unemployed, or if you are snowed in for several days you need to be prepared and have food to feed your family. Buying in bulk is a great way to save money and to plan ahead.
The intentions of the workshops for 2012 are clear. Being prepared is a key to keeping your life calm and stress free. Being prepared is important no matter what the topic. Food storage, meal planning, paying your bills, or even how to get out of the house in the morning and get to work on time is all accomplished with proper prior planning. All preplanning gives us sense of control. When we feel we have control, then we can relax, enjoy our lives and not panic when a difficult situation arises. This was and is the intention of the 2012 workshop series and we encourage everyone to do what they need to in order to be prepared, safe and ready for whatever the future may have in store.
I thank the Nashua Telegraph for trying to share the information even if it was partially inaccurate.
